St. Andrew's College 1st Soccer ran the table at the CAIS National Championship Tournament at Stanstead College (QC), going undefeated (4-0-1) in five matches without conceding a single goal, en route to their second straight Canadian crown.
In Saturday's final versus St. George's School (BC), it was a relentless opening 20 minutes from the Saints, with Merek Husack '27 bossing the midfield and Jayden Walters '26 commanding the front line with his hold up play. Walters was rewarded for his effort with the opening goal. A crisp volley to the back post that sent SAC up 1-0 at the break. The Saints kept coming in the second half, and after an outstanding individual effort and curling shot from Jarel Ndombele '26, it was new boy Luscien Yu '29 on the doorstep to put SAC in the drivers seat. Centre backs Nick Alexander '27 and Heris Ziai '27 kept slamming the door shut and in the end, it was a comfortable 2-0 victory for the back-to-back champs.
Jarel Ndombele '26 earned the CAIS most valuable player award for his two-way play the final.
In Friday's semi, the Saints faced a familiar foe in Crescent School (ON) and the 'Red & White' were clearly up to the challenge. SAC limited Crescent to a single shot on target, with goals from Jah'Zion Taylor '27 and Josh Henriques '26, and pair from Dylan Mahoney '27 in their 4-0 victory.
In round robin play, SAC opened with a 0-0 draw versus RSGC (ON), despite firing 20+ shots on goal. They followed that effort with a 2-0 win over Saltus (Bermuda) and a 1-0 victory over UCC (ON).
SAC received contributions from all 19 players on the game sheet, including some heroic efforts off the bench from Yu, Alex Wang '29 and Joshua Shi '27.
The Saints (15-1-2) will be right back at it this week, wrapping up their CISAA season at home on Wednesday versus Villanova College. SAC is 6-0-0 in league play and have already secured top spot and a bye into the playoff semifinals.
Go Saints!
