St. Andrew's College 1st Soccer ran their undefeated string to nine games this week with CISAA quarterfinal and semifinal victories. The Saints hope to make it 10 game without a loss when they venture to Appleby College to battle for the 2024 league title.
In quarterfinal action on Monday, SAC 1st Soccer (17-3-1) needed a 70th-minute winner from forward Josh Henriques '26, his second goal of the game, to sneak past Upper Canada College 2-1. That victory sent to the Saints to De La Salle College on Monday, for CISAA semifinal action.
At De La Salle, SAC opened the scoring just three minutes in, with fullback
Jordan Bragoli cutting inside and hammering home a dipping strike from 20 yards out, which took the Saints to halftime up 1-0. In the second stanza, SAC struck early again with
Merek Husack '27 slipping fellow lefty
Reza Ziai '25 through on goal and the senior fullback made no mistake.
De La Salle cut the SAC lead in half in the 65th minute, but the Saints kept coming with
Jayden Walters '26 and
David Bockenheimer '26 sealing the 4-1 win and SAC's spot in next week's title game.
The CISAA Championship Final will kick off at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 4th at Appleby College. In their only meeting this season, the Saints scored first but ended up dropping a tight 2-1 decision on the road. SAC will be aiming to right that wrong on Wednesday.
Go Saints!
