After an unlucky midweek defeat, St. Andrew's College 1st Soccer bounced back on Saturday in a big way, with a convincing road victory at Upper Canada College.
After a scoreless opening half at UCC, it was clear that the Saints were in a good rhythm offensively and creating chances, thus it was only a matter of time before they found the back of the net.
That opening came in the 51st minute, when Sebastian Madeiros '25 chipped forward Nolan Martin '25 through, and he calmly settled the ball with his first touch and slid it past the outstretch keeper. Just eight minutes later, it was Maderios powering home a header on a Joshua Henriques '26 cross, for what proved to be the game winner.
To cap off the Saturday scoring, it was Maderios who set the table once again with some patience and craftiness in midfield that found Jarel Ndombele '26 on his strong right foot, where he tucked it home near post.
Last Wednesday, SAC hosted Crescent School and despite having 70% of possession and a dozen shots on target, they dropped a 1-0 decision in CISAA league action. Crescent caught the Saints on the counter in the 82nd minute and buried a perfect 23-yard strike with their only shot on target of the afternoon.
That defeat added fuel to SAC's fire and it showed on Saturday.
SAC has two more CISAA league matches this week, before we head into the Thanksgiving break. On Monday, the Saints travel to downtown Toronto to take on De La Salle College, followed by a Wednesday tilt in Oakville at Appleby College.
The well-earned four-day weekend, will then be followed by the CAIS National Championship, hosted at St. Andrew's College from October 17th to 19th.
