St. Andrew's College 1st Soccer had a 1-1 week in CISAA league action, as the boys now prepare to host the 2024 CAIS National Championship next week.
Â
On Monday, the Saints were flying from the opening whistle and they really spread the wealth, with eight different scorers leading SAC to a 9-0 road win at De La Salle College. Forward
Jarel Ndombele '25 collected a goal and an assist in the opening stanza to pace St. Andrew's to a 4-0 halftime advantage. It was more of the same in the second period, with senior forward
Nolan Martin '25 setting the table with a pair of assists and new arrival
Jayden Walters '26 notching a brace, for his team leading eight and ninth goals of the season.
Â
On Wednesday, it was Walters who found the back of the net once again, after a crafty solo effort from Josh Henriques '26. That marker put the Saints out in front 23 minutes into the match. Unfortunately, Appleby responded with a free kick equalizer just two minutes later, and buried the winner midway through the second half.Â
Â
The Saints will rue a trio a second half sitters and certainly learned that 'taking their chances' is going to be the foundation of their success at the Nationals and into the CISAA post-season.
Â
SAC 1st Soccer is now enjoying the Thanksgiving break and next up is the CAIS National Championship, hosted here at St. Andrew's College from October 17th to 19th. The Saints open their tournament action on Thursday at 10am on Yuill Field versus Bermuda's Saltus Grammar School.
