Stratford, ON - The St. Andrew's College 1st Hockey Saints turned in a resilient performance Saturday night at William Allman Memorial Arena, battling back from a mid-game surge to notch a 4–3 victory over the Stratford Warriors.
The Saints struck early in the first period with two quick goals—Cooper Bordeaux capitalized on a power-play opportunity at 8:53, assisted by Evan Pahanich and Nolan Long, before Camillo Milani added a second at 10:44 with help from Charlie Sullivan and James Roy. The defensive core controlled the pace early, limiting Stratford's looks and keeping the Warriors on the perimeter.
Stratford roared back in the second, scoring three times—including an early goal by McGurn (2:40), Kipfer's power-play marker (9:44), and Hodge's tally at 16:07—to seize brief momentum. Yet the Saints responded swiftly. Marcus Magri cut into the lead at 3:52 assisted by Roy and Conor Dervin, and later, senior Luca Diplacido gave the Saints lead once again at 15:23 with a strong rip to the far corner off a feedfrom Magri. The response highlighted SAC's composure under pressure.
In the third, defensive discipline carried the night. The Saints limited Stratford to just nine shots, while goaltender Chase Petrova closed the door with 25 saves on 28 shots. SAC also executed on special teams, going 1-for-1 on the power play and killing both Warrior opportunities.
For the Saints, the victory was especially meaningful, coming just two weeks after falling to Stratford in the Eli Palfreyman Tournament final on August 24. By grinding out a tough 4–3 decision on the road, St. Andrew's not only earned two points but also took satisfaction in avenging that earlier loss with a composed, all-around effort.
After a busy week and the satisfaction of three wins from three games, the Saints will gear up to face a century old foe in Upper Canada College next Saturday, September 13th at home, puck drop is at 7:00 PM.
