In a tense showdown at La Brier Family Arena, St. Andrew's College battled to a gutsy 2–1 overtime victory over Salisbury School in dramatic fashion. The Saints, facing a short-staffed defensive corps, leaned on resilience and discipline to overcome adversity in one of the season's most hard-fought contests.
The game opened with both teams trading chances, but neither could break through in the first period. The stalemate was finally broken as Salisbury struck first midway through the third, with Grayson Espenshade converting at 6:35 to give the visitors a 1–0 lead off a sloppy netfront scramble. The Saints refused to fold and at 5:44 of the third, James Roy buried off a setup from Nolan Long and Tucker Sinclair, knotting the score at 1–1 and igniting the home crowd.
Overtime showcased the Saints' character. Despite heavy legs and a depleted blue line, St. Andrew's pressed forward. With 3:49 remaining in the extra frame, alternate captain Nolan Long delivered the game-winner, capping a relentless forecheck and sending the bench into jubilation.
Goaltender Chase Petrova was stellar, turning aside 26 of 27 shots, including several point-blank chances in the dying moments of regulation. The Saints' penalty kill was equally impressive, neutralizing Salisbury's power play despite logging 42 penalty minutes in a physical contest.
Captain Finn Kearns praised his team's resolve: "We were short on the back end, but every guy dug deep. The defense showed incredible guts—blocking shots, winning battles, and never quitting. That's what being a Saint is all about."
Head coach David Manning lauded the group's composure under pressure, noting that contributions came from every line in a true team effort.
In a game defined by grit and determination, the Saints proved that heart can overcome any obstacle. The next action for the Saints comes Sunday afternoon at 12:00 PM as they host Cushing Academy at La Brier Arena.
