Rochester, NY - St. Andrew's College delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday, defeating Bishop Kearney School 6–1 at the Rochester Ice Center. The Saints controlled the pace from start to finish, showcasing their offensive depth and defensive discipline in a convincing road victory.
The game didn't get off to the best start with Bishop Kearney capitalizing on a funny bounce from the end boards to catch the Saints scrambling to recover. The Saints rebounded and opened the scoring midway through the first period when
Ryan Murray buried a setup from
Nate Feiner and
Evan Pahanich.
Tucker Sinclair doubled the lead late in the frame off a feed from
Cooper Bordeaux and
Nolan Long.
The second period was the turning point, as the Saints scored three unanswered goals to break the game open. Murray notched his second of the night, again assisted by Feiner, with
Camillo Milani adding a secondary helper. Milani then scored one of his own minutes later from
James Roy and
Marcus Magri.
Alex Carscaddena capped the surge with a tally set up by
Luca Diplacido and
Finn Kearns, giving St. Andrew's a commanding 5–1 lead.
In the third, Bordeaux sealed the victory with a beautiful individual effort with a goal at 7:25, assisted by DiPlacido and
Charlie Sullivan. From there, the Saints locked down defensively, holding Bishop Kearney to just six shots in the final frame. Goaltender
Chase Petrova turned aside 30 of 31 shots for a steady performance in net, while the penalty kill remained perfect despite six minor infractions.
Murray, voted player of the game by his teammates after his two-goal outing, praised the group's effort: "We wanted to come out fast and play our game. Everyone contributed tonight, and it felt great to get rewarded as a group. Being recognized by the guys as player of the game means a lot, but really, it was a full team effort from start to finish."
With six different goal scorers and ten skaters registering points, Head Coach David Manning highlighted the Saints' depth and execution as keys to their success. The 6–1 win provides another boost of momentum as St. Andrew's looks ahead to its next challenge on Friday night at the La Brier Family Arena as the visiting Victory Honda come to town for games on Friday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 12:00 PM.
