This weekend, St. Andrew's College is set to host the 7th Annual Gary West Memorial Hockey Tournament at the La Brier Family Arena, bringing together top teams for a thrilling weekend of competition. The tournament, which has moved from its traditional January slot to March, now takes the place of the National Independent School Invitational Championships (NISIC) and promises high-intensity hockey action.
The SAC U18AAA hockey team will hit the ice against elite competition, including Everest Academy, Ontario Hockey Academy, Hill Academy, Okanagan Hockey Ontario, Biosteel Academy, Stanstead College, and King Heights Academy. With a packed schedule and a talented field, fans can expect fast-paced, hard-hitting matchups throughout the weekend.
The tournament kicks off Friday, with the SAC U18AAA squad headlining the evening's action. Warm-ups begin at 7:00 p.m., setting the stage for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop, where the home team will look to showcase their skill, grit, and determination in front of a passionate crowd.
Hockey fans and community members are encouraged to pack the arena and support the Saints as they chase another tournament title in honour of Gary West. For those unable to attend in person, games will be streamed live on SAC Athletics' YouTube channel.
