The U18AAA Hockey team recently hit the road to compete in the Hoosier Cup tournament at the University of Notre Dame. Despite dominating play and outshooting their opponents by a combined 86-47, the team faced an unexpected challenge—all three games went to shootouts. While their relentless effort shone through, they narrowly lost two shootouts, cutting their tournament run shorter than anticipated.
The weekend wasn't just about hockey, though. Before Saturday's games, the team enjoyed a tour of the University of Notre Dame, guided by recent Old Boys and current UND students,
Gordie McDonnell '21 and
Kade Hennessey '22. This behind-the-scenes experience offered a glimpse into life at one of the most iconic universities in the U.S.
Capping off the day, the team had the chance to watch an exciting NCAA matchup between the University of Notre Dame and Ohio State, soaking in the high-energy atmosphere and drawing inspiration from collegiate-level play.
Though the tournament didn't end as hoped, the team left Notre Dame with unforgettable experiences, both on and off the ice, ready to channel those lessons into future games.
