The St. Andrew's College U18AAA hockey team made an impressive statement over the weekend, capturing the Pittsburgh EP Cup Series championship in dramatic fashion. The Saints showcased their skill, determination, and resilience throughout the tournament, culminating in a thrilling overtime victory in the final.
The Saints set the tone early in the tournament with a commanding 8-1 victory over the Philadelphia Hockey Club in their opening game. SAC's offensive firepower was on full display as they overwhelmed their opponents from start to finish. Game 2 saw a similarly strong performance, with SAC defeating Seacoast Performance Academy 7-4, securing their spot in the semifinals despite a 3-1 loss to the Boston Advantage in their final round-robin game, where the third goal was an empty-netter.
SAC faced Boston Advantage again in the semi-finals, determined to avenge their earlier loss. The Saints came out firing, playing with poise and precision to claim a decisive 5-2 victory and punch their ticket to the championship game.
The final against Honeybaked was nothing short of spectacular as both teams traded goals in a back-and-forth battle. Markus Weber's stellar play earned him the Finals MVP honour, while Marek St. Croix and Felix Tran each contributing three points to the team's effort and with Felix scoring the overtime winner to seal a 4-3 victory for the Saints.
Congratulations to the Saints on their remarkable achievement and for bringing home the Pittsburgh EP Cup Series title!
