In Week 2, the First Football team returned to the U.S. to face Bishop Timon High School, the 70th-ranked team in New York State. The Saints quickly found themselves down 7-0 after Bishop Timon returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown.
Showing strong composure on the road, the Saints took control of the game after stringing together successful scoring drives and playing tough defence. They responded with three straight touchdowns - two from
RB Felix Auger and one from
QB Dylan Kress.
The defence, once again, proved to be a formidable force, effectively neutralizing Timon's highly skilled and athletic offence. St Andrew's carried a 21-7 lead into the fourth quarter, and the defence held strong, only conceding a touchdown on the game's final play. The Saints came out on top with a 21-13 victory over Bishop Timon.
Kress has now rushed for two touchdowns in the season's first two games, demonstrating strong leadership as the driving force behind the Saints' offence. Meanwhile,
Auger made his presence felt on both sides of the ball with two interceptions that were crucial in sealing the win.
The Saints earned some redemption after last year's 29-21 loss to Bishop Timon, improving to 2-0 on the season. They now face a significant challenge as they prepare to play a highly-ranked Cardinal O'Hara team under the lights on Friday, Sept. 20, in Springfield, PA.
