St. Andrew's College 1st Soccer put in their best team effort of the season when it mattered most, not allowing a single shot on target as they cruised to a well earned 3-0 win at Appleby College to claim the 2024 CISAA crown.
Â
With the victory, the Saints collect the CISAA and CAIS 'championship double' for the first time since the 2014 campaign.Â
Â
The warm and sunny fall day agreed with SAC, as they asserted themselves from the opening kick. That sustained pressure in the opening 20 minutes resulted in the game's first goal. With their fifth corner kick of the match, Josh Henriques '26 picked out full back
Michael Madeiros '27 at the top of the six yard box, as the Bermuda-native guided home a glancing header.Â
Â
The Saints continued to push forward, and were rewarded again early in the second half. Forward
Jarel Ndombele '26 slipped past a pair of defenders and slotted a ball across goal that senior
Nolan Martin '25 got a toe to, to double SAC's lead.Â
Â
With the Appleby pushing numbers forward,
Jayden Walters '26 caught the 'blue and white' on the counter and was taken down in the box with just five minutes to play. The Jamaican-native coolly slotted home goal number three from the penalty spot.
Â
Along with the effort in attack, goalkeeper
Robert Barkman '26 and senior centre backs
Thierry Johnston '25 and
Matvey Semochkin '25 were rock solid for SAC, along with holding midfielder
Merek Husack '27.Â
Â
With the the win, the Saints move to 18-3-1 on the fall, with their final 2024 trip south of the border set for this weekend. SAC 1st Soccer will rest up on Thursday and then head to Hartford, Connecticut for the annual Can-Am Super Cup.

Go Saints!
