On Saturday, St. Andrew's College 1st Soccer closed out the historic 2025-26 season with their annual 'Seniors & Old Boys Day'.
The rain-soaked celebration kicked off with a late-morning scrimmage on Yuill Field that featured all of our current 1st Soccer student-athletes and 15 SAC Old Boys, which ranged from 2025 to 1997 grads.
The action on the pitch was followed by a luncheon and presentation that celebrated the 2025-26 1st Soccer campaign — a season that saw SAC become the first school ever to claim back-to-back CISAA (regional) and CAIS (national) titles. We then recognized our four graduating seniors; captain Josh Henriques, assistant captain Jarel Ndombele, midfielder Adam Popatia and forward Jayden Walters.
Joshua Henriques: This 3-year 1st Soccer member from Jamaica was our 2025-26 captain and 2023 Most Improved Player. Whatever was asked of this forward/midfielder, he delivered. Josh's MIP season of 2023 saw him score 20 goals and then, with a changing roster, Josh was asked to do more work in the middle of the park and be both a scorer and a set-up man. The numbers showed his impact the past two seasons with a combined 20 goals and 16 assists. His dedication in the classroom and on the pitch is taking him to the University of North Carolina in the fall.?
Jarel Ndombele: This 3-year 1st Soccer member from Toronto was our 2025-26 assistant captain, the 2025 CAIS Finals MVP and our 2025 MIP. Jarel brought a new desire to lead by example this past year. He tallied 11 goals and a team-high 13 assists (up from 4 goals & 3 assists a year ago) – while always outworking the opposition. He recently earned his way into the reserve squad of the Canadian Premier League's Inter Toronto and he's taking a gap year to work on landing his best university destination for 2027.?
Adam Popatia: This very rare 4-year 1st Soccer member from Markham, is a midfielder and forward who always brought a very high soccer IQ to match day. With outstanding technical skills and creativity, Adam was also the point man in organizing our defending and press in the front third via plenty of determination and a big voice. For the fall, he's earned his way onto the FC Barcelona (Arizona) Residency MLS Next U19s, where he'll also be a part-time student at Arizona State University Prep — as he gets ready for a post-secondary step in 2027.?
Jayden Walters: This 2-year 1st Soccer member from Jamaica was our 2025-26 MVP. Jayden's fall season included a whopping 30 goals in 26 games (plus 8 assists), topping his impressive 24 goals and 6 assists a year ago. In fact, he had a stretch in Sept/Oct where he scored a goal in 10 straight games! His fall destination is still up in the air — with updates coming soon.?
Saturday was another great connector for our past and current student-athletes and our greater SAC community, and congratulations and best of luck once again to our graduating seniors!
Go Saints!
