On Wednesday, November 1, after a quick turnaround from playing in Long Island, the Saints faced Trinity College in the CISAA semi-final at St. Andrew's College. The Saints earned the right to host after finishing with a 3-0 record in CISAA league play, finishing in first place for the second straight year.
Trinity recently played St. Andrew's on October 18 and had two weeks to prepare for this all-important semi-final game. It was evident from the get-go that Trinity came prepared to play. Despite missing some key starters due to injury, the Saints battled through adversity and a fired-up Trinity team to get out to 7-0Â lead after a TD run by Charles Bernier. The Saints' defense continued where they left off and held TCS off the scoreboard into halftime, with the score now 17-0. Scoring in the 2nd quarter was
Felix Auger with a TD and
Spencer Haslett with a 29-yard FG to close out the half.
In the second half, the Saints continued to fight off a valiant effort by Trinity and put together two great scoring drives to score another two touchdowns. Both were on the ground, led by the entire offensive line, who dominated the line of scrimmage in the second half.
Malcolm Austgarden and Charles Bernier scored touchdowns in the second half.
Final Score:
SAC 31
TCS 6
The Saints now look to try and repeat as CISAA Champions as they face Upper Canada College on Wednesday, November 8 on Yuill field. Kickoff is at 1:30 pm!
We hope to see our student body and faculty out to cheer on your 1st Football Saints!
