The Huntsville Connection

Check out the deep history with Huntsville exports at SAC

Over seven years, the name Knox was synonymous with St. Andrew's College Lacrosse. In 2018 the Varsity lacrosse team faced off against two towering brothers from Huntsville Highschool.

Duke Knox was a senior and his younger brother Jason was in grade nine. Duke was a highly skilled professional… and at the time, Jason the more energetic yet extremely talented younger brother alongside of him.

After that matchup, we established that Jason would be joining us at St. Andrew's the next year. Fast forward and in walked a 6'3 attackman with some of the most natural goal scoring ability our program had ever seen. As a sophomore he was also a natural leader, with a knack for witty comments and comedic timing.

He made an immediate impact as a crucial member of our 2019 CISAA Championship team. He joined a talented crew of multi-sport athletes which included Corey Andonovski who currently resides in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.

With Jason came our first of many Huntsville Hawks goaltenders, Caleb Creasor. Both Caleb and Jason changed the face of Saints Lacrosse for years to come, with both pursuing NCAA Division 1 commitments at Lehigh and Hobart Universities respectfully.

Jason recently finished off his NCAA career with the Ohio State Buckeyes and has now progressed into an NLL Career with the Panther City Lacrosse Club, and Halifax Thunderbirds of the NLL. Creasor on the other hand was able to finish off his career in the NCAA with Maquette University.

After Jason and Caleb departed for university and post-grad opportunities, we continued to follow the Huntsville Hawks trend as we were joined by Riley Knox and Quinton Greenfield. Riley, the talented younger brother of Jason, and Quinton, a phenomenal young goalie looking to make his own mark and carry on the great goaltending legacy at St. Andrew's.

With solid grade freshmen and sophomore campaign's respectably, Riley and Quinton's career at SAC were unfortunately impacted greatly by the Covid shortened season. While Greenfield lost both his Junior and Senior years, he eventually headed off to Queen's University in CUFlA, most recently leading them to a Baggataway Cup and being name First Team all Baggataway for an impressive playoff performance in 2024.

Quinton has also had an accomplished Jr. B career with the Orillia Kings, where he was named Eastern conference player of the year and team MVP in his final year of Junior.

Riley on the other hand was lucky enough to Lead the Varsity Saints to a CISAA Championship in his senior year. As Captain, Riley was integral in re-igniting the culture of St. Andrew's College Lacrosse as Covid was no longer a major factor. Leading us to a CISAA Championship in 2023, Riley was instrumental in establishing a core for the future.

Later that Summer, Riley was a key contributor to the Whitby Warriors Ontario and Minto Cup Championships. He went on to spend two years at Mercer University and has now transferred to Lynn University NCAA DII.

In 2023 we were joined by sophomore phenom Campbell Ellis. Ellis was the 3rd installment of Huntsville Hawks Goaltenders and proved to be instrumental as he helped lead us to another CISAA Championship over St. Michaels College in 2023.

Campbell went on to be the captain of Varsity lacrosse in 2024 and has committed to play NCAA D1 Lacrosse at St. Joe's University in 2027.

St Andrew's College has had a vibrant history with Huntsville, having acquired many top athletes that has led the Saints Lacrosse team to glory for several years. The team looks to have continued success this season in the coming Spring with new recruits and a renewed desire for victory.
