The First Basketball team travelled down to The York School Wednesday afternoon for an important CISAA league game. The Saints were hoping to keep their winning ways going after coming off a big tournament win in the Whitby Invitational; however, they knew that CISAA competition is a different animal and they would need to play hard, smart, and together for four quarters to earn the win.

Sure enough, The York School came out with energy from the opening tip and played hard-nosed physical defense to keep the Saints from attacking the basket. Meanwhile, they were able to catch the Saints napping on the defensive glass and get some transition buckets to open up an early lead. Fortunately, the Saints settled down and started to execute better on offense to get some opportunities of their own. David Osa-Ogbeide was fantastic all game long attacking off the dribble and finding open teammates. Ben Fitzpatrick provided a much needed spark off the bench with his perimeter shooting, while Gabe Cabelli and Spencer Haslett kept the York School's post players from causing trouble inside.

Heading into the fourth quarter, it was still anyone's game at 44-40 for the Saints.

In the final quarter, the Saints executed beautifully at both ends of the floor. Switching defenses kept the York School at bay, and Brandon Yi caused havoc with his on-ball defense. The Saints limited The York School to 4 points in the quarter. Meanwhile, Nick Shackell and Jacari Marshall caught fire from the perimeter, knocking down several three-pointers in the quarter and blowing the game wide open.

In the end, the Saints deserve credit for 'trusting the process' and continuing to battle through adversity as they earned an important CISAA victory.

Next action for the Saints is next Wednesday in CISAA action vs. Crescent!
