Mark Oliver '85
1st Rugby 1985 with Mark Oliver

Mark was Captain of 1st Rugby in 1985 and was one of the first S.A.C. boys to represent Ontario under 19 at the XV a-side level.

Coach Stuart Swan (back left of photo) says of Mark:
He had a wonderful, warm and gracious  personality, was a fine athlete  - playing #8 in rugby (6'4", 210lbs) and was a much respected leader.

Mark's Yearbook Comment from 1985:
Activities: 1st Hockey, 1st Rugby, Prefect, Cadet Major, House Captain, SAC En France '83, SAC vs. Notre Dame 84/85
At the outset I had no idea what to expect from a boarding school. I had to leave some good friends, but little did I know that I would find even greater ones at St. Andrew's.  Mac House was an interesting, and often trying experience, but once I reached the upper school I figured I had it made.  In grade 11 my sejour in France was one of the best learning experiences which I will ever have.  It was in grades 12 and 13 where I feel I excelled in all aspects of school (except math!).  I have made some good friends and had some great experiences, none of which I will ever forget.  I have to say that it's participation (and a good friends) that will make or break you at St. Andrew's.  St. Andrew's College is one of the very best institutions of its type, but you must be prepared to put something into it, and only then will you find what you're looking for in a school.  I feel that I've put enough into St. Andrew's, and I have been justly rewarded with a formidable high school career.
