Athletic Therapy Services

Clinic Hours:

Monday-Tuesday & Thursday-Friday – 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday – 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday – Coverage available for games only (clinic closed)

Hours are subject to change based on the weekly sport schedule. Illnesses and injuries requiring attention outside of these hours should be brought to the attention of the Health Centre.
 

Athletic Therapy Clinical Services:

Injury Prevention

  • Coordination with strength & conditioning staff to provide individual and team training programs
  • Education regarding hydration, diet, recovery strategies, body mechanics, equipment, and overall athlete safety

Assessment & Consultations:

  • First aid
  • Concussion evaluation & management
  • Musculoskeletal assessment
  • Individualized sport-specific training (coordinate with strength & conditioning staff)
  • Return-to-play evaluation

Rehabilitation:

  • Soft tissue mobilization
  • Physical reconditioning
  • Therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, interferential current, neuromuscular stimulation, thermotherapy, cryotherapy)

The services provided by the athletic therapists are for students only. Faculty and staff seeking advice or information about an injury or rehabilitation may be referred to local healthcare practitioners (see the Resources tab list of local clinics offering a variety of health care services).

Athletic Therapy Field Services:

  • Injury assessment
  • First aid
  • Supportive taping / wrapping techniques 
  • Basic emergency life support
  • Coordinate activation of Emergency Action Plan
  • Recognition & management of acute traumatic neurological dysfunction
  • Preparation for entrance into appropriate health care delivery systems
  • Facilitation of safe return-to-participation
