St. Andrew's College faced off against Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Prep on Sunday in a second high-scoring game that ended with a decisive victory and a weekend sweep after Saturday's 9-1 result in favor of the Saints.
The game started off with a flurry of action, and it was the Saints who struck first. At 19:08 of the first period,
Jack Good blasted a shot from the right of goal that beat the Pens goaltender Jake Shingles. SAC added to the lead with a power-play goal at 13:58, courtesy of
Connor Arseneault, with assists coming from
Kieren Dervin and
Michael Dec. The Penguins got one back off the stick of AJ Shaff to have the period end with a score of 2-1.
The second period saw a power-play goal by Marcus Hookong of the Penguins at 15:31, assisted by Brandon Webber and Anthony Sewecke to knot the score. However, it was St. Andrew's College who took control of the game at this point.
Kieren Dervin scored the game-winning goal with
Connor Arseneault assisting at 05:14. Dervin waited out the Pittsburgh goalie and tucked it short side to the amazement of onlookers.
Michael Dec added another goal at 03:18 to end the second period, with the Saints leading 4-2.
The Saints continued their strong performance in the third period.
Aidan Lane scored at 11:17, assisted by
Tyler Chiovetti and
Sebastian Dell'Elce.
Connor Arseneault added another goal at 08:24 off a rebound, with assists from
Kieren Dervin and
Tyler Chiovetti. The third period ended with a final score of 6-2 in favor of St. Andrew's College and stretched their season record to 9 wins and 0 losses.
The shot clock showed a 37 – 28 total favor of SAC, with Saints goaltender
Liam Furey Stopping 26 of 28 shots he faced.
The penalties were 5-5 with both teams going 1-5 on the powerplay. In the end, St. Andrew's College showcased their dominance in this game, securing a 6-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pens Elite . It was an intense weekend marked by strong offensive plays and disciplined play from both sides.
