The U16 Rugby squad has opened the season in dominant fashion, remaining undefeated with a 5-0 record through their first two league jamborees.
The Saints kicked off regular season play at the jamboree hosted by St. Michael's College School, going 3-0 with convincing wins over Lakefield College School, St. Mike's, and Greenwood College School. The team's aggressive defensive play set the tone early, forcing turnovers and limiting opponents to just one try across all three matches. "Man of the Match" honours went to George Ince for his strong leadership in the offensive attack.
The Saints continued their momentum at the jamboree hosted by Holy Trinity School, earning two more league victories despite cold and rainy conditions. SAC handed defending champion Hillfield Strathallan College its first loss of the season with a 21-5 victory before following it up with a 36-0 shutout against Hillfield's second side. The Saints also played two exhibition matches, outscoring Crestwood Preparatory College and Lakefield by a combined score of 46-20.
Offensively, the Saints have been led by standout performances from Santiago Bracamontes Lance and Santiago Tarno Gonzalez, who combined for 15 tries over the two jamborees. Santiago Tarno Gonzalez earned "Man of the Match" honours at Holy Trinity after scoring six tries on the day.
Additional tries throughout the opening stretch came from Charles B, Roman DG, George Ince, Tyler Boyd, Tyler Pethick, Roman Bona, Roman Di Girolamo, Payton Sukovski, and Finn Clark.
The squad now looks ahead to hosting Holy Trinity and Ridley College on May 13. GO SAINTS!
